Tree Preservation Order
A Tree Preservation Order came into effect in 1967 to protect the trees in Lime Tree Avenue. They were put into five groups which are listed here and identified on the plan, below, with G1 at the bottom moving through to G5 at the top.
G1: 63 lime trees between what was then known as the Uckfield County Secondary School and Hempstead Road.
G2: 49 lime trees, eight beech trees and two Scots pines between the secondary school and Downsview Crescent.
G3: includes five lime trees and four beech trees in the avenue north of Downsview Crescent.
G4: two beech trees and a sycamore within the boundaries of 6 Oak Tree Court.
G5: three beech trees and two oaks west of the avenue adjoining 45 Downsview Crescent.
